Katharine was born and raised in a small coastal town in the North East of England. From a very early age, she developed a life-long passion for performing. After spending most of her teenage years acting in local productions, Katharine decided to travel around the world. Her journey took her through Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. It was an exciting and humbling time that widened her perspective of the world and rewarded her with many experiences that she continues to draw from to this day. Katharine headed to Los Angeles with a renewed passion and an even greater desire to study her craft. She was soon accepted into the summer program at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. The following fall she enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and spent three years there continuing to develop her talent. Katharine starred in two independent features and a short film, produced by the Strasberg Institute and directed by the up-and-coming director, Sasha Krane (whose debut short film, A Little Death, won Best Romantic Drama at the 2003 New York Film Festival). She also starred in two plays - Medea and Night Mother, playing the lead role in both. On entering the professional world of acting, Katharine took to the stage again. She played Queen Gertrude in Hamlet at The Next Stage in Hollywood and went on to originate the role of Breda in Bernard Farrell's comedy, The Verdi Girls, at The Laguna Playhouse. Soon after, Katharine played Amanda Prynne in Noel Coward's Private Lives. The play opened to rave reviews and enjoyed one of the highest audience attendance rates in the Longbeach Playhouse's history. Recently, Katharine also starred in Sinners, an independent feature directed by T. Mark Christopher. The film won Best Picture at the 2007 Swansea International Film Festival. Among her many interests, Katharine enjoys writing. She has had one of her essays on the performing arts published by Bonnie Gillespie, author of Self Management for Actors and a former writer for Back Stage West. Katharine is a proud member of AEA.
